Statistical dataSome players asked if I could show some statistics of the playchess site. Since I like to see some numbers myself, I created a program that gathered some interesting data. Here, I show some diagrams compiled from the raw data sampled automatically. The diagrams show the state of the site at the beginning of August 2000. Origin of playersThe players come from all corners of the earth - even Antarctica has an entry :). Surprisingly for me, nearly half of the players come from good old Europe (the western countries from the Ex-Soviet Union, including Russia, are counted in). But the United States "deliver" about 30% of the players, and Germany makes up for additional 10%. ![]() Age of playersThe following graphic demonstrates (once again) that chess is a hobby for players of every age. The youngest player is 8 years, the oldest nearly 70 years old. ![]() Parallel TournamentsThere has been some excitement on the limitation of parallel tournaments for inexperienced players. The diagram demonstrates that only very few players play more than 3 tournaments at the same time. ![]() On the other hand, a surprisingly large number of members do not play any tournament at all (nearly half of the registered "players"). RegistrationsThe number of registrations per month is steadily increasing. ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||
